Cloud Computing

Cloud computing technology, though at a nascent stage of development and adoption, clearly is the next wave of computing. Attempts to legislate in this area will be detrimental to its future growth and development of technology.

Policy Goal: Congress should refrain from regulating cloud computing. There are sufficient existing laws and regulations to protect consumers. For example, data security and privacy regulations still apply to the collection, storage and general management of consumer data regardless of whether consumer data is being stored on dedicated servers or on the cloud.
