Support for Career and Technical Education
In the 1990s, the Department of Education's Office of Vocational and Adult Education worked closely with the National Association of State Directors of Career Tech Ed consortium (NASDCTEc) to create the States Career Cluster Initiative (SCCI) as the curriculum and Programs of Study framework for CTE. The initiative includes 16 career clusters, one of which is the IT Career Cluster. SCCI has been adopted by 46 states and the District of Columbia.
Policy Goal: Ensure that the Carl T. Perkins Act continues to provide adequate levels of funding for CTE programs at the high school and community college levels, including funding for industry certifications that will help students become employed.
